this month's supper is inspired by my meeting scott peacock at slow food nation in san francisco - or more precisely, by my eating the ham biscuits that he made at the event. one bite of the impossibly buttery biscuits and i knew that my next supper had to be a southern one. this menu draws from recipes from scott peacock and the late edna lewis' great cookbook, the gift of southern cooking.
first
biscuits with country ham (or with white cheddar)
then
roasted quail (or wild mushroom-stuffed peppers)
salad of cucumbers and radishes
roasted okra
lastly
lane cake with coconut bourbon frosting
featuring
